During a series of lessons the pupil gradually acquires a tool to help him/her find a way of dealing with faulty co-ordination that can cause so many of the problems and injuries which are common to all of us as we go through life. This mal-coordination is often the result of deeply ingrained habits that are learned from a very young age.

These habits become the basis of our daily response to life. In an Alexander lesson we learn how to unlearn these pervasive habits, gradually liberating us from our muscle-bound existence.

The object of the Alexander Technique is to make us conscious of our habits and to give us the tools for change. As a result, aches and pains disappear, posture improves and we gain an over-all sense of well-being.

Lessons are available on an individual basis and are useful for adults and children of all ages.

Some of the more common problems dealt with are:

  • backaches
  • neck and back injuries
  • chronic pain
  • headaches
  • postural problems
  • tendinitis
  • poor coordination
  • Repetitive Strain Injury
  • breathing and vocal difficulties
  • reduction of stress and fatigue
The Alexander Technique benefits musicians, singers, dancers, athletes and anyone whose work demands skills and long hours of practice. It has also helped many people with problems of concentration or learning disabilities.
